Crisis/Teacher Assistant (Full Time 10 Month Position)

Cedar Ridge School is in need of a Crisis/Teacher Assistant that will assist the classroom teacher and treatment team in delivering individualized education services to students based on their IEP’s and established curriculum. In addition, the Assistant will assist in producing and maintaining student records of educational progress, treatment issues, and other related records; and will implement the School’s Behavior Management System, and assist with crisis intervention as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma plus the appropriate level of post-high school education required by MSDE, OR passing score on ParaPro test.
  • Demonstrate abilities conducive to maintaining a controlled therapeutic classroom environment.
  • Have a broad academic base in appropriate grade level curriculum areas.
  • Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of loyalty, determination, and confidentiality.
  • Must accept and affirm a Judeo-Christian worldview in both personal and professional life. This affirmation includes agreement with the Cedar Ridge statement of faith, the personal practice of spiritual disciplines, and behaviors consistent with traditional moral values.
  • Must pass a detailed background investigation that includes:
    1. Passing a health screening which may include drug testing.
    2. Verification of Business and Personal References.
    3. Verification of Driver’s license with a good driving record.
    4. Police/FBI/Child Protective Services background investigations.

 

IMMANUEL COTTAGE –  RESIDENTIAL YOUTH CARE COUNSELOR – (1 Full-Time position – Wednesday – Saturday)

The Residential Youth Care Counselor is a direct line staff position supervised by the Residential Supervisor.  While on shift, the YCC will receive daily direction from the Lead Cottage Coordinator for all facets of cottage life, including but not limited to utilization of the behavior management system, transportation, overseeing meals and duties, and participating in recreation with residents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age and must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have a valid driver`s license and maintain a good driving record.
  3. Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate the capacity to understand young men and to develop further knowledge and skills working with young men in the care of Cedar Ridge
  5. Must have excellent communication, organizing, and counseling skills to interact with the residents as well as school and/or Cedar Ridge residential staff.
  6. Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.
  7. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  8. Must have the ability to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive young men, have the energy and physical ability to participate in activities and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with problems.
  9. Must affirm Judeo-Christian values. This affirmation includes an agreement with the Cedar Ridge statement of faith and behaviors consistent with traditional Biblical moral values
  10. The employee handbook further states that employees who engage in open, notorious immorality, including, but not limited to, violence, dishonesty or slander, sexual activity outside of marriage, theft, or conduct illegal under applicable local, state, or federal law are subject to discipline up to and including termination of employment.
  11. Must pass a detailed background investigation
  12. Must become RCYCP Certified if not already qualified.

 

FLOATER – Relief Residential Youth Care Counselor – (Full-Time Hourly / 40 Hours Week position)

The Relief Residential Youth Care Counselor –Floater is a direct line staff position supervised by the Residential Director, Residential Services Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator.  While on shift, the Relief  RCYCP is to receive daily direction from the Lead Cottage Coordinator for all facets of cottage life, including but not limited to utilization of the behavior management system, transportation, overseeing meals and duties, and participating in recreation with residents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age and must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be certified or be eligible to be certified in Maryland as RCYCP, CPR/First Aid, Med Tech, Restraint
  3. Must have a valid driver`s license and maintain a good driving record.
  4. Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  5. Must be able to demonstrate the capacity to understand young men and to develop further knowledge and skills working with young men in the care of Cedar Ridge

OVERNIGHT AWAKE CHILD CARE WORKER (Full-time)

SUMMARY:  The ONA is a direct line staff position that is supervised by the Residential Supervisor while the daily direction is given by the Lead Cottage Coordinator. The ONA is responsible to provide security and consistent supervision of residents during the night, assist other Child Care Staff with the morning routine, and complete the necessary paperwork in a timely manner.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older
  2. Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to be alert and awake during normal sleeping hours of residents, and to make decisions in keeping with treatment team interventions
  5. Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  6. Must demonstrate the capacity to understand children and to develop further knowledge and skills for working with children in the care of Cedar Ridge
  7. Must be able to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive children, have the energy to participate in children’s activities, and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with children’s problems.
  8. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  9. Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.
  10. Must affirm Judeo-Christian values.
