Education Office Manager / Administrative Assistant (Full-time 12-month Salary Position)
Cedar Ridge School is in need of a full-time Office Manager / Administrative Assistant. This position will provide organizational and clerical support for the School Administrator and Education Director of Cedar Ridge School. S/he also provides such support to other education personnel as needed. This position will promote effective, positive interaction within and outside Cedar Ridge through facilitating communications, answering the telephone, photocopying, typing, processing mail, and other related duties.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A college degree in a related area is preferred, but not required if the skills level and expertise to perform the job are evident.
- Two to four years experience in a school setting preferred, with heavy involvement in Special Ed.
- Working knowledge of technology, preferably experience working with Excel spreadsheets and/or Google Sheets.
- Must be a team player and be able to maintain a high degree of loyalty, determination, and confidentiality.
- Must be flexible in nature, have an affinity for details, and organization, think strategically and see the job through to its completion.
- Must be proficient in general office duties, including transcription, and word processing.
EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY) POSITIONS (Beginning Monday, July 3 through Thursday, August 3, 2023) (Work days are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM – 11:30 AM)
ESY positions will work approximately 16 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.
ESY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ( positions available): Responsible for implementing the Individualized Education Plan for each student during the Extended School Year Session. Qualifications for this position: Teaching credentials are required with Special Education Certification preferred.
ESY TEACHER/CRISIS AIDE ( positions available): Responsible to assist in all facets of classroom instruction and management. This position will require that the Aide function as a resource in dealing with disciplinary situations as they arise within the school.
SUMMER PROGRAM RECREATION ASSISTANTS (10 Part-time Positions, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Summer Recreation Assistants are responsible for supervising residents when they participate in Cedar Ridge’s recreation program, which may include other activities. The program runs from June 19 – August 18, 2023. Training dates for staff are June 12 – June 16, 2023.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have communication and counseling abilities to interact with the residents and cottage staff.
- Must have the ability to intervene in crisis situations.
- Must demonstrate the ability to participate in, as well as instruct various sports recreation and adventure recreation activities.
- Must be able to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive youth; have the energy to participate in children’s activities; and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with youth problems.
- Must affirm Judeo-Christian values. SUMMER LIFEGUARD / RECREATION ASSISTANT (Part-time Position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM)
Summer Lifeguard Recreation Assistants will perform all duties recognized to operate as lifeguards of Cedar Ridge swimming pool during all swimming activities. In addition, when performing as a Summer Recreation Assistant am responsible to assist the other Recreation Assistants with the care and supervision of their assigned youth and assist with other youth as needed in Cedar Ridge’s recreation program. The program runs from June 19 – August 18, 2023. Training dates for staff are June 12 – June 16, 2023.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently certified by a nationally recognized organization as a Lifeguard.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver`s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must demonstrate the capacity to understand children and to develop further knowledge and skills for working with youth in the care of Cedar Ridge.
- Must be able to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive young men, and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with youth’s problems.
- Maintain Physical Conditioning sufficient to:
- Be able to physically restrain residents (at-risk boys ranging in age from 14 to 17) whose behavior is out of control to the point that they may be a danger to themselves, or others, or that they may damage property.
- Have the energy and physical conditioning to participate in youth activities.
- Must accept and affirm a Judeo-Christian worldview in both personal and professional life. This affirmation includes an agreement with the Cedar Ridge Statement of Faith, the personal practice of spiritual disciplines, and behaviors consistent with traditional moral values.
- Must be able to maintain Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator (CPR/AED) for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguarding/First Aide, and Restraint Certifications.
- Must pass a detailed background investigation that includes:
- Passing a health and physical conditioning screening which may include drug testing.
- Verification of business and personal references.
- Verification of driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Police/FBI/Child Protective Services background investigations
Middle/High School Math Teacher (Full-time 10-month Position)
Cedar Ridge School is in need of a Middle / High School Teacher. This position will complete and carry out individual and group instruction for mathematics subjects. New hire will provide oversight and supervision to the assigned teacher assistant(s) in the classroom.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have Maryland Teaching Certification and have or be willing to acquire General Education math endorsement in appropriate grade levels (preferred). Or must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and be willing to take additional classes to receive certification.
- Must demonstrate maturity-level leadership abilities conducive to maintaining a controlled therapeutic classroom environment.
- Must have a broad academic base and be qualified in secondary math, or at least eligible to be qualified in math.
- Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.

Special Education General Education Teacher (Full-time 10-month Position)
Cedar Ridge School is in need of a Special Education/General Education Teacher. This position will complete and carry out individual and group instruction for students. This would include a plan that utilizes appropriate materials and activities to address each student’s Individual Education Plan. New hire will provide oversight and supervision to the assigned teacher assistant(s) and one on one staff in the classroom.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
- Must have Maryland Teaching Certification in Special Education and/or General Education. Or must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and be willing to take additional classes to receive certification.

The Floater – Relief Residential Youth Care Counselor is a direct line staff position supervised by the Residential Director, Residential Services Supervisor and Clinical Coordinator. While on shift, the Relief Residential Youth Care Counselor is to receive daily direction from the Lead Cottage Coordinator for all facets of cottage life, including but not limited to, utilization of the behavior management system, transportation, oversight of meals and duties, and recreation participation with residents.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 21 years of age and must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be certified or be eligible to be certified in Maryland as a Residential Child and Youth Care Professional (RCYCP) and in CPR/First Aid, as a Medical Technician and Restraint certified.
- Must have a valid driver`s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
- Must be able to demonstrate the capacity to understand young men and to develop further knowledge and skills working with young men in the care of Cedar Ridge.
