IMMANUEL COTTAGE – RESIDENTIAL CARE SPECIALIST (Full-Time position – Sunday – Wednesday)

The Residential Care Specialist is a direct line staff position supervised by the Residential Supervisor.  While on shift, the RCS will receive daily direction from the Lead Cottage Coordinator for all facets of cottage life, including but not limited to utilization of the behavior management system, transportation, overseeing meals and duties, and participating in recreation with residents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age and must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must have a valid driver`s license and maintain a good driving record.
  3. Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate the capacity to understand young men and to develop further knowledge and skills working with young men in the care of Cedar Ridge
  5. Must have excellent communication, organizing, and counseling skills to interact with the residents as well as school and/or Cedar Ridge residential staff.
  6. Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.
  7. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  8. Must have the ability to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive young men, have the energy and physical ability to participate in activities and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with problems.

Job Title:  OVERNIGHT AWAKE CHILD CARE WORKER (Full-time)

SUMMARY:  The ONA is a direct line staff position that is supervised by the Residential Supervisor while daily direction is given by the Lead Cottage Coordinator. The ONA is responsible to provide security and consistent supervision of residents during the night, assist other Child Care Staff with the morning routine, and complete the necessary paperwork in a timely manner.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older
  2. Must have high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to be alert and awake during normal sleeping hours of residents, and to make decisions in keeping with treatment team interventions
  5. Must have the ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  6. Must demonstrate the capacity to understand children and to develop further knowledge and skills for working with children in the care of Cedar Ridge
  7. Must be able to withstand the work and pressures of caring for a group of active, often aggressive children, have the energy to participate in children’s activities, and be flexible and willing to learn new ways of coping with children’s problems.
  8. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  9. Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.

ONE-ON-ONE SCHOOL ASSOCIATE  (Temporary position during school day 8:15am-3:00pm)

The One-on-One Associate will assist a Cedar Ridge School student in need of one-on-one adult supervision during the school day for as long as there is a student requiring one-on-one services.  The goal of this position is to provide support to the classroom instructional staff in the management of the behaviors of the student in need of one-on-one services; intervene as directed in crisis situations and assist classroom teachers in the implementation of education programming to the identified student. This position calls for flexibility and patience.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have ability to intervene in a crisis situation.
  2. Must have sufficient academic abilities to occasionally support the student educationally.
  3. Must have communication and counseling abilities in interacting with the student and the classroom staff.
  4. Other duties as listed in the Job Description for the position.

If you currently work at Cedar Ridge and are interested in this position, please note it is our desire to select someone who is not working Full Time and paid on an hourly basis.  This is to avoid creating overtime issues if working over 40 hours in conjunction with their normal job. Also note that there are restrictions for salaried staff regarding the number of additional hours and days they can work in conjunction with their regular job.

 

 

Part-Time Laundry / Housekeeping Coordinator

SUMMARY:  The Laundry/Housekeeping Coordinator is responsible to launder clothing, bed linens, and household cleaning cloths according to a schedule agreed upon by Food Service Manager and the Residential Supervisor.  S/he will also store offseason and used clothing for the residents. This position will also be responsible to clean bathrooms the Admin and Business Office buildings. This position will also serve as a backup for Food Services staff when they need extra help or to cover for sick or vacation time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 21 years of age or older and have a high school diploma.
  • Demonstrate abilities conducive to working with Residential Staff to ensure residents’ clothing and linen are kept clean. As well as other laundry need for the cottages.
  • Be able to do mending and minor repairs of clothing for the residents.
  • Ensure that Dishtowel from the food services department are laundered in guidelines with the food service department.
  • Be able to fill in for kitchen staff when they need extra help or to cover sick/vacation time
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of honesty, determination, and able to work alone and stay on task.
  • Cleaning and paper supplies are to be distributed weekly to the cottages as needed.  Cottage leads will fill out a list to be given to the Laundry person and documentation kept of what supplies go out to each cottage.
  • Must accept and affirm a Judeo-Christian world view in both personal and professional life. This affirmation includes an agreement with the Cedar Ridge statement of faith, the personal practice of spiritual disciplines, and behaviors consistent with traditional moral values.

SCHOOL NURSE:  Cedar Ridge is in need of a School Nurse on a part-time basis. This position is responsible for the monitoring of medication and medical supplies, the provision of training on medical issues, and the determination of quality assurance to uphold the continued quality care of students and staff of Cedar Ridge School.  Schedule: 2-3 hours every school day.

Job Qualifications:

  • Prefer current Maryland RN License Certification
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrate proficiency in personal computer data applications.
  • Knowledge of quality control in administering prescriptions and medications.

Psychiatrist
Qualifications:
 Currently or has the ability to be licensed in the State of Maryland
 Completed a residency in child psychiatry in an accredited program
 Ability to work with children 10 – 21 years of age
 Is available to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Responsibilities:
1. Participation in the screening, assessment, admission, and discharge processes;
2. Formulating and documenting a diagnosis;
3. Participation in the development and signing of a child’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) and ITP reviews;
4. Clinical supervision of those cases requiring face-to-face medical review;
5. Consulting with staff regarding the maintenance of the therapeutic milieu;
6. Review of medication utilization and corrective feedback when utilization is found to be inappropriate; and
7. Medical aspects of quality management.
Services to be provided:
1. The Consulting Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (CCAP) provides psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and medication management; participates in team/staff meetings with Cedar Ridge
clinical staff with regard to child and adolescent residents of Cedar Ridge.
2. The CCAP will drive to Cedar Ridge Group Home and meet with the children on site there, approximately two days per month (generally Tuesday’s). Cedar Ridge agrees to provide
reasonable accommodations on site for the said services to be performed.
3. Typed psychiatric evaluations will be provided by CCAP.
4. Cedar Ridge will provide a nurse to assist the CCAP during the time she/he is on site at Cedar Ridge treating the residents.
5. Cedar Ridge will maintain its own medical records, including psychiatric records on each of the residents seen by the CCAP.
6. CCAP will establish and maintain their own medical records for each resident receiving treatment by them. A copy of the medical records will be provided to Cedar Ridge for their record keeping.
7. CCAP will handle all billing for psychiatric services rendered to Cedar Ridge residents.
8. Cedar Ridge will obtain the requisite authorization for consent of treatment to the residents by their legal guardian, as well as the consent of said legal guardian for exchange of medical and
psychiatric information between Cedar Ridge and CCAP.
9. The Cedar Ridge nurse will contact the resident’s guardian or parent, as applicable, regarding any new medication, significant medication change, and provide information to said guardian/parent and the resident patient of the potential risks, benefits, and side effects of the medication, answer patient or parent/guardian questions, and document as necessary.

 

Crisis/Teacher Assistant (Full Time 10 Month Position) Cedar Ridge School is in need of a Crisis/Teacher Assistant that will assist the classroom teacher and treatment team in delivering individualized education services to students based on their IEP’s and established curriculum. In addition, the Assistant will assist in producing and maintaining student records of educational progress, treatment issues, and other related records; and will implement the School’s Behavior Management System, and assist with crisis intervention as needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1)      21 years of age or older.

2)      High School Diploma plus the appropriate level of post-high school education required by MSDE, OR a passing score on the ParaPro test.

3)      Demonstrate abilities conducive to maintaining a controlled therapeutic classroom environment.

4)      Have a broad academic base in appropriate grade level curriculum areas.

5)      Must be able to function in a team environment to successfully complete objectives.

6)      Must be able to maintain a high degree of loyalty, determination, and confidentiality.

Residential Youth Counselor  The RYC is a full or part-time direct line staff position in the Residential program. While on shift, the RYC would receive daily direction from the Lead RYC regarding all facets of cottage life, including but not limited to utilization of the behavior management system, transportation, overseeing meals and duties, and participating in recreation with residents.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The Cedar Ridge Residential Department is looking for both Full-time and Part-time Staff to help with the “at-risk” boys in our program. Activities with residents could include: maintaining proper behaviors, transportation, overseeing meals and duties, helping with getting the boys off to school in the morning and with homework in the evening, and some participation in recreational activities.  Available hours could include: Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 8:30, Mon-Friday 3:00 Pm – 11:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 8:00 am to 11:00 PM (Entire shift or part of the shift), Mon – Sunday 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM the next morning.

State Law requires that Residential candidates be at least 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and possess a valid driver’s license. applicants should have experience in or familiarity with dealing with at-risk youth.  If you are interested in this position please complete an application.
